ABRAHAM
God made Abraham several promises but Abraham didn’t pick up the promises off a supermarket shelf. He needed to fight the battle of Faith, face conflict and even a battle for the promises to come to pass.
And I will make of thee a GREAT NATION, and I will bless thee, and make thy NAME GREAT; and thou shalt be a blessing: Genesis 12:2 (KJV)
Do you know how that happened immediately after God made those promises?
Pharaoh took his wife from him.
At that point, am not sure he recognised the opportunity the temporary loss of his wife presented. He most likely didn't know that this crisis was the passage to becoming GREAT. Greatness has a lot to do with wealth, God turned a distress situation to turnpike of prosperity and greatness.
And Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the south. And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold. - Genesis 13:1-2 (KJV)
How did Abraham’s Name become Great?
He went to battle with the five kings that kidnapped his nephew Lot, defeated them and refused to take the spoils of war.
This is totally unheard of, no one goes to war without something to again, but Abraham refused to take an item from the spoils. He made a relevant statement to shed light on this:
this shows a man that didn't lean on his ability but solely on God's. This should be our attitude, an attitude of not leaning on our own understanding but put our trust in God.
But Abram said to the king of Sodom, “I have raised my hand to the Lord, God Most High, the Possessor of heaven and earth, that I will take nothing, from a thread to a sandal strap, and that I will not take anything that is yours, lest you should say, ‘I have made Abram rich’ - Genesis 14:22-23 (NKJV)
JOSEPH
Joseph has visions of greatness but needed to be sold as a slave for it to happen, if that wasn't sufficient, he was sent to prison for righteousness sake on his pathway to the throne.
MOSES
Moses was the promised Deliverer, but he was self-exiled en route to his calling. He spent forty years in the wilderness of Midian. One year for every one year he already lived on earth, possibly to reverse pomposity, arrogance inculcated in him as a Prince of Egypt.
At eighty, he started another forty year journey as the Deliverer.
ISRAEL
God told the Children of Israel that He will give them a Land flowing with Milk & Honey.
But these enslaved people group, without prior military experience needed to fight battles against established nation with formidable armies and generals. If standard armies weren't enough opposition, they encountered rivers that needed crossing, walled cities that needed pulling down and Giants without weapons of war. But they had only ONE WEAPON - GOD!
DAVID
David was anointed King as a youth.
Little did he know that was a Goliath between him and the throne. He never anticipated that his father-in-law, Saul, will hunt him till his death. The Philistines, the Amalekites will constantly bruise his heel.
He was a fugitive en route to the throne.
JESUS
Jesus my perfect example, had to lay aside His majesty, picked up flesh, He was tempted and suffered everything we suffer. He went hungry, He thirsted, He had no place to lay His head, He died and was buried.
He went to hell, fought and defeated Satan to become King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He even got a name that has not been revealed.
My friends, there’s a pathway to the throne.
Every promotion comes with an exam.
But know something for sure, He has promised to never leave you nor forsake you.
When you go through the flood He is right by your side,
When you go through the fire he is right by your side what ever you go through God is with you.
This year is that year that you will step into victory.
Your year of miracles, signs and wonders.
Your year of elevation.
The year where things that have delayed in the past will swiftly come to you.
I’m going to leave you with this word just the exact word that God gave the children of Israel
For the Lord thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills; A land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees, and pomegranates; a land of oil olive, and honey; A land wherein thou shalt eat bread without scarceness, thou shalt not lack any thing in it; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills thou mayest dig brass. When thou hast eaten and art full, then thou shalt bless the Lord thy God for the good land which he hath given thee. Beware that thou forget not the Lord thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day: - Deuteronomy 8:7-11 (KJV)
Then Jesus before He returned to heaven told His disciples this:
I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.] - John 16:33 (AMPC)
